King Island Wildlife Tour

King Island Scenic Wildlife tour

Winter is the ideal time to experience King Island in the warmth of our 4WD
( Group size determines vehicle used ).

3 Days/2 Nights ADVENTURE - view images

DAY ONE.  At King Island Airport you will be met on arrival by your local King Island guide where you will be taken to the famous King Island Cheese factory, sighting wildlife along the way.  From there we journey to Currie where you will gain an insight into the history of King Island at the famous Museum and then onto the King Island Kelp factory that will give you an understanding of a seaweed industry that is exported to Scotland and helps us to understand the wildlife that greets the kelp on an incoming tide.   From there you will be taken to your accommodation staying at King Island Motel.

DAY TWO.    We leave the road network and travel an exclusive area of King Island and touch nature at its best. Wild peacock, pheasants, turkeys, and of course the Rufus & Bennett's Wallabies, Black Swans, Oyster Catchers and Red Capped Plovers all guaranteed to be seen.   As we travel through the day, taking in Stokes Point Lighthouse, the Calcified forest, we often see Emus, Echidnas, an array of Finches, Whistling Dicks and many more....back to your accommodation for a short break prior to the commencement of your nocturnal night tour which includes Penguin Rookery and evening meal.

DAY THREE.   We will today travel along Grahams Road, spotting birds going about their morning activities in the dappled light – onto the little village of Naracoopa where I will tell you about the French explorer.   From there we take a country road that will lead us to the British Admiral Beach, where we will travel along the beach depending on the tide, up close and personal to the shorebirds.  From there we will make our way around the coastal track, which will take us to the Boathouse for tea & scones.  From here you will have the opportunity to do a brief souvenir shop prior to the airport for your departure.
